Women of Tomorrow Visit Irene Marie Models

When Rachel Desert walked into a top South Beach modeling agency on Friday, the high school student expected to get tips on how to pose for the cameras and walk down a runway.

She got that and a whole lot more, including life lessons, from agency founder Irene Marie, supermodel Nikki Taylor and Wild on E! host Cindy Taylor, no relation to Nikki.

''I learned that with determination, you can overcome any obstacle,'' said Desert, 17, a junior from North Miami Beach Senior High School.

"Nikki also said her parents were very supportive of her career. That's very important.''

Desert belongs to the Women of Tomorrow, where at-risk high school girls receive mentoring from successful professional women and get a behind-the-scenes look at various industries in South Florida.

The program operates in 98 high schools in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. School officials choose students from the ninth to 12th grades to participate. The goal is for successful women to help teenagers realize their potential.

On Friday, six girls from Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School joined Desert and five other students from North Miami Beach High for a tour of Irene Marie's modeling agency on Ocean Drive. All of the students wore matching red polo shirts, black pants and black high-heel pumps for the occasion.

Marie, whose agency launched the career of both Taylors and hundreds of other top models, has been a founding mentor with Women of Tomorrow since Jennifer Valoppi, a former WTVJ-NBC 6 news anchor, started the program in 1997.

The girls received wide-ranging advice from the three women.

Marie and Nikki Taylor showed them how to walk with the proper attitude on a runway located in the back terrace of the agency's building.

Irene Marie Models Celebrates Milestone in Fashion Industry

More than 1,000 members of the fashion industry elite gathered on Saturday to celebrate Irene Marie Models’ unprecedented 25th Anniversary in Miami Beach. The exclusive VIP gala was part of the launch of the new state-of-the-art venue LIV Nightlife at Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Guests including Latin music sensations Willy Chirino and wife Lissette Alvarez, Harry Wayne Casey of KC & The Sunshine Band, popstar Jesse McCartney, baseball superstars Alex Rodriguez and Sammy Sosa, Telemundo network president Don Browne and celebrity models Vinci Alonso and Adam Senn, were treated to an audio-visual spectacle, a unique fashion retrospect, and an All-Star Rock & Roll performance.

Irene Marie, accompanied by her husband Patrick Marie and their five children, was greeted on the red carpet by Miami Beach City Commissioner, Jerry Libbin. Commissioner Libbin presented Irene with an official proclamation and announced December 13th, 2008 as Irene Marie Models Day in the City of Miami Beach. Following her gracious acceptance of the proclamation, Irene and her guests were ushered inside where they were met with a multimedia presentation featuring giant images of Irene Marie Models past and present including Kimora Lee, David Fumero, Amber Smith, Beverly Peele and Marcus Schenkenberg.

Cindy Taylor, The World’s Sexiest Host, kicked off the night with a warm welcome to her fellow models, agency staff, and local and national fashion clients. Following her greeting, Cindy introduced and was joined on stage by news reporter, author and Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship Program (WOT) president, Jennifer Valoppi. Jennifer publicly acknowledged Irene’s contribution to the WOT and presented the founding mentor with a special congratulatory award.

After an hour cocktail soiree, E! personality Michael Yo, introduced the first of its kind Miami Fashion Retrospect. The vintage chic spectacle was produced by top stylist Danny Santiago, with hair styling provided by Vidal Sassoon and makeup by Sephora. The procession of forty Irene Marie Models dressed in vintage attire provided by C. Madeleine’s concluded with Irene’s first supermodel, Niki Taylor. Immediately following the show, Irene Marie appeared on the stage to thank her guests and to present her husband and children to the audience. The Marie family was dressed in complimentary silver outfits by local designer Renato Armijo of Ever After Miami.

The evening, which was produced by Miami Beach resident Patxi Pastor, concluded with an All-Star Rock & Roll performance featuring Christina Christian of American Idol, Bob Seger’s Silver Bullet Saxman Alto Reed and legendary guitarist George Terry.

Irene Marie Models 25th Anniversary Celebration

The Irene Marie Modeling Agency will be teaming up with the world renowned Fontainebleau Miami Beach on Saturday, December 13, 2008 to hold an exclusive gala and Rock & Roll fashion show to celebrate the agency’s 25th anniversary. Recently proclaimed by the Miami Herald as “The Grand Dame of Modeling,” Irene Marie’s unprecedented 25th year in the industry has made her the undisputed queen of the Miami modeling scene. Her contributions to the development of the local and national fashion communities have been recognized by entities such as the Women in International Trade, Ocean Drive Magazine and the City of Miami Beach, which recently presented Marie with the key to the City.

The exclusive VIP by-invitation-only gala and Rock concert fashion show will kick-off the launch of the new state-of-the-art venue, LIV Nightlife At Fontainebleau Miami Beach, which was part of the historic landmark’s $1 billion renovation. The event will be hosted by one of Marie’s most memorable discoveries and Wild On E! host, Cindy Taylor (Guess?, Parasuco and Pantene).

The evening will feature Irene Marie Stars including Niki Taylor, Vinci Alonso, Scott Dequine and Yollie Roman taking to the runway with wardrobe styled by celebrity stylist Danny Santiago (Sex & The City the movie, Burn Notice and Confessions of a Shopaholic). The show will be followed by a very special All Star performance by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Members and legendary artists including Bob Seger’s ‘Silver Bullet Saxman’ Alto Reed, Eric Clapton’s guitarist George Terry, American Idol's Christina Christian and Tico Torres of Bon Jovi.

Founded by Television Journalist Jennifer Valoppi and Telemundo President Don Browne in 1997, the organization currently mentors close to 2000 at-risk young women in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach public high schools, and has provided more than $1.8 million in college scholarships. The program's mentors include 250 of South Florida's most accomplished professional women.
